Follow the Winter Olympics from Vancouver
9 Feb 2010
Cardonald College Glasgow's journalism senior lecturer Martin Boyle will be attending the 21st Winter Olympics in Vancouver Canada, during the last two weeks in February in a joint project between the college and the University of the West of Scotland.
Martin is currently working on a PhD entitled 'New Media and the Changing Face of Sports Journalism: Vancouver 2010-Glasgow 2014' and, with full press accreditation from the British Olympic Association, he will be examining the way in which the media interacts with major sporting events, in the lead-up to Glasgow becoming host city of the Commonwealth Games in 2014.
He will also be studying developments in media coverage as Cardonald's Creative Industries faculty plans to meet cutting-edge demands for delivery in the future. Martin will be meeting up with the BBC's Ed Leigh, snowboarder and presenter of Ski Sunday and High Altitude, as well as working with Canadian press and visiting the University of British Columbia's highly-rated journalism school to tour the facilities and meet staff and students.
He'll be writing a blog of his trip, and you can follow him at http://martinboylejournalism.blogspot.com
