A New Chapter

Come the 11th June 2010 I will have completed three years at Cardonald College gaining a pass at NQ Media, HNC and HND Communications with Media.
When I was accepted for the NQ Media class I was over the moon. I had just left school at fourth year and wanted to keep learning about the media as I had always been interested in news and current affairs. So when I was accepted I thought this is the start of something new in my life.
I completed my NQ gaining a C Pass in Higher Media and Higher English which led me to apply and be accepted for the two year HNC/HND Media course.
This course was more in depth and allowed me to gain new skills and take up one of my biggest challenges so far. In the first year Graded unit I created a tattoo magazine, gaining a B+ which was a massive achievement for me. In second year I decided to organise a local tattoo exhibition in Pollok. With no funding I overcame problems which could have knocked me down, kept going and on the 23rd May 2010, my exhibition was a success with tattooists showing off work at the event. I also sold the tattoo magazine, organised a raffle and gave kids sticky tattoos. I am currently waiting on my result but hope to gain an A or B.
Whilst studying I have had work experience at the Evening Times and the BBC which have helped me decide what career I would like to take up on completion of the course. I would like to take a career in the media, hopefully a Journalist with the BBC.
Cardonald College has helped me with my career choice and the support on site has been brilliant. I would highly recommend the media courses at Cardonald. It allows you to gain new skills and take part in wonderful opportunities out with the College.
