Advice & Support for Businesses

Whether you are an SME, large local authority or a multinational we can offer you advice and support on a variety of topics, from funding and grants for new businessed to assessing your training needs and developing a course or programme to suit your specific needs.

Course Development

Organisations of all sizes enjoy the convenience of our short courses in areas such as First Aid and REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene. They may only have one or two members of staff to train, so it's much more cost effective to send them on a course that's already running at the College. Organisations such as Rathbone, Addaction, PJ's Foods and Thornliebank Care at Home have all recently booked on courses such as these.

The majority of organisations have employees with IT training needs, however most people have needs in different areas when it comes to IT. For this reason the College offers programmes such as Microsoft Office Specialist, which caters for all levels of IT training from very basic to advanced. Employees can focus on specific packages such as Word, Excel or PowerPoint. We've also delivered the European Computer Driving Licence Qualification (ECDL) to organisations such as the BBC, Compass and the Wise Group. For small companies who may need to work to tight budgets, we offer ECDL Open Learning at £50 per module. The client chooses the area that they need help with and we supply the materials and online support for them to complete the module and take the assessment. Tutor support is continually available via phone and email during the period of study.

We've had the pleasure of working in our own sector by providing the Advanced Certificate in Training and Learning to tutors from North Glasgow College and the Professional Diploma in Training and Learning to tutors from South Lanarkshire College.

We enjoy working with large organisations and local Councils to develop new innovative training programmes. For example we developed a training programme for South Lanarkshire Council called 'Improving Agreed Response Standards', which impoved how their customer enquiries and complaints were being handled. We were also approached by Chivas Regal to develop a creative workshop for a group of their Accountants, which motivated them to think outside the box.

We even developed a training programme for the Istanbul-based gas company iGDAS. September 2006 saw a group of Turkish visitors travel the length of Europe to take part in training and a cultural visit at Cardonald College.

More than 60 people from iGDAS participated in the programme, receiving training in Operation and Administrative Management of Utilities - an area of expertise for Cardonald College following years of water industry links created throughout Europe.

Of course many organisations also send their staff on our range of day and evening courses which aim to Continue Professional Development (CPD). We have a strong relationship with Scottish Water whose employees complete our HNC Water Operations with Management Qualification. Our range of Training for Trainers courses are attended by employees from Clydesdale Bank and the Win Group to name a few.

In essence, we understand the needs of different types of client groups and welcome enquiries aimed at developing training that suits the business world. If you are interested in developing a programme for your organisation and would like to discuss this please contact our Commercial Development Unit on 0141 272 0613.
