Board of Management
The Board of Management is responsible for the governance of Cardonald College Glasgow. The Board sets the strategic direction of the College and is responsible for all official College policy. It has a range of legal responsibilities as defined by the Further and Higher Education (Scotland) Act 1992. In addition to their official duties, Board members take an active interest in the work of the College, and as well as attending various events, each member has close and supportive links with one department of the College.
The Board of Management has 13 members, including two staff representatives elected by the academic and support staff respectively, a student representative, a member appointed by Scottish Enterprise Glasgow, and the College Principal. Apart from these five, vacancies for Board membership are publicly advertised. According to the Constitution, at least half the total membership must 'have experience of, and have shown capacity in, industrial, commercial or employment matters or the practice of any profession' and the remaining members must 'have, or represent people who have, an interest in the work of the College.'
The Board normally meets eight times a year and observers are welcome. The Minutes of meetings, once approved, are displayed in the College and will be published on the web under the College's Board of Management publication scheme.
