Fashion Design - an introduction

This course is intended to introduce school students to creative subjects within fashion design. The skills learned will expand their knowledge and enhance their design techniques. Past students have progressed to the NQ Fashion Design.

The purpose of this course is to enable the students to understand the process of fashion design from initial research to design development and fashion illustration of garment ideas.

Within this subject students will research garments such as skirts tops and dresses from fashion magazines, produce a fashion design sketch book with design development in the form of sketches, experiment with colour and texture for fabric simulation and produce 2 fashion illustration storyboards to exhibition standard  

Attendance Pattern       

August to Easter

Tuesday or Thursday, 2pm to 4pm.

Entry Requirements

Ideally students should have completed Standard Grade or Intermediate 2 Art.

Students must complete a basic fashion design exercise supplied by the College. This must be submitted to the Fashion Section by the 1st June.               

Progression

It is hoped that successful completion of this course will benefit students in the pursuit of a full-time course or as an interest. Students may also progress onto other modules in the series.
