Finance
This course is designed to give students a clear understanding of the factors to be taken into account when planning a personal budget, as well as the information available from bank statements and pay slips. They should also achieve an understanding of the ways of borrowing and consequent related risks, together with an understanding of the value of saving and the variety of ways in which individuals can go about saving.
The course will consist of one SQA Intermediate 2 unit, Personal Finance Awareness DM7X 11 (1 NQ credit). The general competence for the unit involves the following:
• Prepare and maintain a personal budget
• Explain the sources and implications of borrowing.
• Demonstrate understanding of the need to save and the variety of ways of saving.
Entry requirements
Pupils would be expected to have either Intermediate 1 English or a General level pass in Standard Grade English.
