First Aid

First Aid training is available in two formats.

1. SQA First Aid: August - January

This course runs for 36 hours and is assessed by a written paper and a practical assessment. (This course is not suitable for Winter Leavers)

Incident / Casualty management, Resuscitation, Bleeding, Burns, Fractures, Medical conditions, Bites, Stings etc.

Successful candidates will receive an SQA certificate, with a credit value of 1.

2. Health & Safety Executive First Aid at Work Course:  January - March

This course runs for 24 hours and is assessed both practically and orally.

Please note for the HSE course the maximum class size is 15 students

The course is a vocational award which will enable successful candidates to become a ‘First Aider’ in the workplace.

Health + Safety legislation, Accident recording + reporting, First Aid kits, Risk assessment, Incident/Casualty management, Resuscitation, Bleeding, Burns, Fractures, Medical conditions etc.

Successful candidates will receive a Cardonald College Glasgow HSE First Aid at Work certificate, which is valid for three years.

Attendance Pattern for both courses

August to Easter  

Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, 2.15pm to 4.15pm.

The course may be delivered in school at an agreed negotiated time, subject to suitable facilities being available.
