Psychology: Higher
This course offers 6th Year pupils with an interest in Psychology, Social Science, Criminology or Science the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of individual differences, developmental, cognitive, biological and social psychology. During the course, students will develop analytical, evaluative and research skills, which are transferable to many other subject areas and are essential for study in Higher Education.
Examination of the course consists of a 2hr 30minutes paper in late May or early June 2011.

· Unit 1: Understanding the Individual
· Unit 2: Investigating Behaviour
· Unit 3: The Individual in the Social Context
Entry Requirements
Pupils should normally have Higher English at A – C.
Attendance Pattern
August to June
Monday and Thursday, Tuesday and Thursday or Tuesday and Wednesday 2pm to 4pm. The course may be delivered on outreach by negotiation, or may involve students infilling into college classes. A minimum of 4 hours per week is required.
Progression
Advanced Higher Psychology. HNC/D or Degree courses in Psychology, Arts, Social Sciences, Sciences and Criminology.
