Course Description

This flexible course takes candidates through the training cycle and develops skills in planning, designing and delivering training sessions. During the course you will also discuss strategies for identifying learning needs and providing assessment opportunities for learners.

Course Content

 

The course has five core units:

Identifying Learning Need - 1 HN Credit.  Core Unit

  • Identify organisational learning needs and produce an organisational learning plan
  • Identify resources required to implement the organisational plan
  • Conduct a training needs analysis for an individual and plan for the individual needs to be met

Planning, Design and Delivery of Learning - 2 HN Credits.  Core Unit

  • Plan and prepare training sessions
  • Design and develop training resources
  • Deliver training sessions using a variety of methods
  • Review a training and development session

Competence Based Assessment - 1 HN Credit. Optional Core Unit

  • Explain the principles of competence based assessment
  • Devise instruments of assessment for the collection of performance and knowledge evidence
  • Carry out competence based assessment and give feedback

Evaluating Learning - 1 HN Credit.  Core Unit

  • Produce an effective evaluation plan for a training programme
  • Design materials and collect information to evaluate a training programme
  • Analyse information and present a report to improve a training programme

Evaluating Own Practice and Planning for Self Development - 1 HN Credit.  Core Unit

  • Evaluate own practice
  • Identify self development needs
  • Review individual action plan

Course duration and delivery

 
 

There are two delivery models for this course; Day, Evening and Fast Track.

Day:              09.00 - 4.30, one day a week for 17 weeks                       

Evening:        5.30 - 8.30 for 26 consecutive Tuesdays

Cost

For fee paying students, £690. This course may be eligible for an ILA.

This course affords easy access to the HNC in Learning & Development. Candidates who successfully complete this course need only complete a further six units to gain a full HNC.
