Course Description
This HND course gives students the underpinning knowledge and practical coaching skills required to pursue a career in sports coaching and sports development/or progress to Higher Education.
7-8
Subjects Include
First year - Sports Coaching Theory, Principles of Fitness Training, Anatomy and Physiology, Psychology, First Aid and Work Experience.
Second year - Improving Coaching, Sports Mechanics, Fitness Conditioning in Sport, Sports Injuries, Nutrition and Stretch Training, and Assisting Sports for Disability.

Entry Requirements
- 2 Highers, including an English based Higher
- Coaching experience and/or coaching qualifications.
- NQ Sports Coaching
- An interview and two acceptable references are required.
- Entrance exam for those without formal qualifications but with relevant life/ work experience.

Progression Routes
- 3rd year entry to BSc Sports Coaching or BA Sports Development at University of the West of Scotland
- 3rd year entry to BA Sports Coaching and Development at University of Abertay
- 1st year entry to BSc Sports Science at Edinburgh Napier University
- Employment as Senior Sport Development Officer.
