Course Description
This is the recommended entry level course. On completion of this course, students may access all other certificated courses, apart from Stress Management, and a range of short courses.

Subjects Include
Anatomy and Physiology: Cell Metabolism, Skeletal, Muscular, Vascular, Lymphatic, Endocrine, Digestive, Respiratory, Reproductive and Renal Systems, Breast, Skin and Hair.
Support Employment Standards: Work environment - simulated in class; Health and Safety/Security in the Workplace, Professionalism and operation procedures.
Preparing Clients: Self presentation; Client communication skills; Treatment objectives; Developing case studies and contra-indications.
Treatments: Swedish massage techniques; evaluation of treatment and Client aftercare.
Requires additional class in Anatomy and Physiology (4.30pm - 6.30pm).

Entry Requirements
Some experience in the caring or related disciplines. Good communication and literacy skills and a genuine interest in holistic therapies are essential. Computer literacy is an advantage.

Progression Routes
Progress to Certificate in Aromatherapy/Reflexology; Indian Head Massage; Diploma in Body Massage.
Therapists can work in a variety of settings including private practice, health clubs, hospitals, hospices, health clinics, GP surgeries, mobile therapist and workplaces.
