Course Description

The course is designed primarily for therapists to use in conjunction with their own specialism to treat a client holistically. You will study the constituents and benefits of healthy eating using the National Food Guide; discuss and agree dietary plans with your client and monitor their progress. It enables you to offer a client non-medical nutritional advice along with the physical treatment you are offering.

Subjects Include

Anatomy and Physiology: cell metabolism, skeletal, muscular, vascular, lymphatic, endocrine, digestive, respiratory, reproductive system, renal systems, breast, skin and hair.

Support Employment Standards: clinical environment - simulated in class, health and safety/security in the workplace, professionalism and operation procedures.

Preparing Clients: self presentation, client communication skills, Treatment objectives, developing case studies and contra-indications.

The course will run on a Wednesday evening.

Cost

For fee paying students, £175 per person. This course is eligible for an Individual Learning Account (ILA). You must have your ILA before enrol.

Entry Requirements

Applicants are required to have underpinning knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology of the human body and you will be required to attend the Thursday evening A&P class 4.30pm - 6.30pm.

The A&P class cost is £115. If you have already completed A&P please send a copy of your certificate.

Progression Routes

Therapists can work in a variety of settings including private practice, health clubs, hospitals, hospices, health clinics, GP surgeries, mobile therapist and workplaces.
