Course Description

This new 3-credit award is a compact, practical qualification set at SCQF level 8. It comprises three units: one mandatory (E-Learning: The Reflective Practitioner), and two optional, which include areas such as E-Assessment, Online Discussion, Designing Materials, Selecting Resources, and Coaching and Mentoring.

Assessment work is integrated with your own current professional activity in e-learning.

The course will run throughout the year on a flexible basis, but it is anticipated that the three credits could be achieved on average within six months.

The award will be open to staff from other colleges and institutions.

  • E-Learning: The Reflective Practitioner
  • Design and provide online induction activities
  • E-Learning Materials: Specification and Selection
  • E- Learning Materials: Design and Build
  • Planning and Delivering Blended Learning
  • Online Communication: Coaching, Guidance and Support
  • Online Communication: Discussion
  • Online Assessment

Why Cardonald?

The course tutor has many years of relevant elearning experience both in tutoring and design. He is a key member of the consortium which developed the materials for both this award and the previous PDA in Online Learning.

Cardonald College has been very active in the promotion of elearning, specifically in the area of Moodle, the virtual learning environment, and in the BlendEd project which developed online materials for several HNC/D courses.

Entry Requirements

The course is aimed at professionals already working in some aspect of e-learning - teaching, designing, assessing, coaching and supporting. This award is not for lecturers/trainers who have no experience of any of the above.

Progression Routes

The structure of the award is intended to allow you to select the path which best suits your area of professional interest, and all options will be available. On completion you may be able to gain entry into a variety of related degree or post-graduate programmes.
