Course Description
This course consists of six HN units, covering a range of practical areas within the Carpentry and Joinery remit including Stairs, Roofs, Windows and Doors.
Why Cardonald?
All construction courses are delivered in the new £8.5 million Skills Centre recently opened at Cardonald College main campus. The Construction Section has for more than 30 years been training apprentices and tradespeople for the building and engineering industries. Some of our apprentices have gone on to become very successful business people in the industry. We have a superb level of support from the construction industry both through close working with employers and the Construction Skills Scotland organisation (formerly CITB) The new workshops are very well resourced and this particular course takes place in the Metabo Workshop which is sponsored with the latest power tools and machinery from Metabo the manufacturers of high quality tools. All staff delivering training on Carpentry & Joinery courses have industrial experience and keep themselves up-to-date with developments in their trade. An apprentice of the section won the Glasgow Modern Apprentice of the Year in 2007. The section participates in an annual prizegiving each year where effort and excellence are recognised and celebrated.
