Course Description

Due to the high volume of applications, this course is currently closed to online applications. Please check back after the SQA exam results on Thursday 5th August when places may become available.

Completely updated course designed to develop the skills required for employment in a variety of service sector industries. Past students have gained employment in banks, local Government, the health service, manufacturing and retail. The course also offers excellent opportunities for progressing to a wide variety of university courses.

The HNC takes one year to complete and students can complete a further year's study to gain the HND qualification.

Why Cardonald?

This course will be delivered in the College's newly refurbished main campus.

Students will have the opportunity to make the most of the newly updated resources. Staff have many years of industrial/lecturing experience and keep themselves up to date with developments in the Industry. Links with employers will be made through student visits and guest speakers. Successful completion of the course gives students a good broad base from which to choose a future career or university course.

Entry Requirements

Interview and one Higher (preferably English, History or Maths) or relevant NQ units (including Communication at Intermediate 2 level).

Applications are invited from those without formal qualifications, but who have several years of relevant work experience.

Progression Routes

3rd year of various degree programmes at Glasgow Caledonian University and University of the West of Scotland, and a number of other universities throughout the UK.

Many students progress into employment.

Students can progress on to a part-time BA or BSc from the Open University (OU). Students can choose from a wide range of OU modules, including subjects not studied previously.
