Course Description
The Level 3/4 Award, the Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) is for Pre-service or In-service Tutors and Trainers, and is aimed at candidates who:
- Would like or require an introduction to teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector or
- Are seeking career progression within their area of work or
- Train on a one-to-one and/or group basis or
- Have access to 30 hours teaching.
The qualification is suitable for those who work or want to work as trainers in the Lifelong Learning sector, eg adult and community education, work-based learning and the voluntary sector.
Subjects Include
The level of this qualification is determined by the assessment criteria and assessments. This means that the delivery of the qualification, (the Tutor's input), will be the same for both levels 3 and 4, but the overall level achieved will depend on the assessment tasks undertaken and the results achieved.
The Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector consists of mandatory units and optional units.
The mandatory units are:
- Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector
- Planning and Enabling Learning
- Principles and Practice of Assessment
There is a wide range of optional units including; Equality and Diversity, Coaching and Mentoring, Evaluating Learning Programmes and Delivering Employability Skills.
Start Date
Various start dates throughout the year.
Attendance Pattern
One day a week for 15 weeks.

- S/NVQ Level 4 in Learning and Development

- S/NVQ Level 5 in Learning and Development.
