Course Description

HNC Applied Sciences offers you the flexibility and breadth to match current employment needs and recognition of the requirements for progression to various universities across Scotland.

The course develops the practical laboratory skills and theoretical knowledge essential for science-based employment in the locally expanding Health and Industrial sectors. It also forms a broad based entry level for university degree programmes in Biology and Chemistry.

A selection of Science-based subjects can include Biology; Chemistry; Maths; Physics; IT; Instrumentation Technologies and Health & Safety.

Entry Requirements

  • Higher (or equivalent) in Biology/Human Biology and Chemistry at C or above and four Credit Standard Grades at 1/2, or Intermediate 2s at A/B from Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English.
  • Completion of an NQ science course or other relevant experience and skills will also be considered.
  • Access to Science - January-start course at Cardonald College Glasgow.

Progression Routes

  • 2nd year entry to a range of BSc courses at Glasgow Caledonian University and University of the West of Scotland.
  • Employment in related industry.
