Course Description
If you have a genuine passion for literature, reading and analysing texts, you will love Advanced Higher English. This course allows you to specialise your knowledge of language and literature and explore texts in depth. It will also develop your skills in writing creatively and in constructing essays.
You will demonstrate the ability to think and work independently, along with broadening your understanding of language skills and literary texts.
There are 3 internal assessments:
1 Specialist Study
A dissertation studying an aspect of literature from texts of your choice.
2 Literary Study
One critical essay produced under exam conditions.
3 Creative Writing
The class meets twice a week for 2 hours. It is tutorial based and students are encouraged to offer their own thoughts and opinions.
