Course Description

The course aims to provide successful performance in Higher English examination. It also aims to increase sophistication of response to
reasonably demanding journalistic and literary texts. It also aims to:

  • Increase sophistication in use of language in short answers/essay writing
  • Increase sophistication in individual presentation and group discussion

Course content

  • Close reading skills at higher level
  • Study of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare and The Catcher in the Rye by J D Salinger, and a number of selected poems and short stories
  • Essay writing skills
  • Individual presentation skills
  • Group discussion skills
  • Guidance induction and guidance pre-exit unit

The day course runs for four hours per week.

The evening course runs for three hours per week on a Tuesday or Thursday.

Start Dates

Tuesday 6 September 6:30 - 9:30pm or Thursday 8 September 6:30 - 9:30pm.
