Course Description

This two year course is designed to prepare young people for life after school and assist them in the transition from school to further college courses or employment. The aim is to build skills that will prepare young people for life after school and enable them to approach the workplace or further learning with confidence. The course further enhances the principals of the Curriculum for Excellence.

In second year, students spend one day a week in work experience placements, which is an excellent way of preparing for employment. On Fridays students select from a wide range of various activities and have the opportunity to mix with students from other courses.

Students can apply for financial help in the form of a bursary or EMA, and travel cards.

Learning to work with others is an important element of the course and is developed through a series of workshops and activity days. Most subjects will be certificated by the SQA. Students can also work towards a Scottish Group Award.
