Course Description
This course is suited for electricians or those working in electical, electronic or other engineering occupations. It gives the competencies for registration with the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Incorporated Engineers. This is a transition year as we introduce the new SQA framework. Current and new framework units will be available.

Subjects Include
Information Technology Applications 1, Single Phase Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, Engineering Project, Communication 1, Inspection and Testing, Wiring Regulations, Quality, Three Phase Systems, Power Electronics or Maths for Engineering.
Cost
For fee paying students, £550.25 in year 1 (which includes 6 units plus £100.25 SQA group award). In year 2, the cost of your 6 units will be £450, you will not need to pay a further SQA fee. You could be eligible for an Individual Learning Account (ILA) of up to £500 each year to cover your course fees. Please enquire at least 3 weeks prior to starting your course if you wish to access these funds. A fee waiver may also be available, dependant on your financial circumstances.
Entry Requirements
SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in electrical installations, electronics or electrical engineering.
Applications are invited from those without formal qualifications, but who have relevant life and/or work experience.
Progression Routes
HND Electrical Engineering or related degree programmes.
