Course Description
This course is suited for electricians or those working in electical, electronic or other engineering occupations. It gives the competencies for registration with the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Incorporated Engineers. This is a transition year as we introduce the new SQA framework. Current and new framework units will be available.

Subjects Include
Information Technology Applications 1, Single Phase Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, Engineering Project, Communication 1, Inspection and Testing, Wiring Regulations, Quality, Three Phase Systems, Power Electronics or Maths for Engineering.
Start Date
You must attend 2 classes per week. Each class will run from 6.30 - 9.30pm.
Cost
For fee paying students, £550.25 in year 1 (which includes 6 units plus £100.25 SQA group award). In year 2, the cost of your 6 units will be £450, you will not need to pay a further SQA fee. A fee waiver may also be available, dependant on your financial circumstances.
Entry Requirements
2 Highers from Maths Physics or another technical or science subject.
Relevant life/work experience.
Willingness to complete short academic bridging course.
Progression Routes
2nd year entry to Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering at Glasgow Caledonian University.
