Course Description
This course provides students with the up-to-date skills required to work in a modern office environment (including legal office). It is suitable for beginners and those wishing to upgrade their IT skills.
The course will focus on the use of Microsoft Office to word process, create spreadsheets, presentations and databases. Students will also send e-mails, use an electronic diary, file, photocopy and use the telephone.

Subjects Include
Word processing (including legal), administrative services, legal audio word processing, communication, research and preparing presentations (PowerPoint), event organisation, handling business documents, managing time and resources, front of office skills and central services, law in employment and introduction to legal rights.
Work experience in a legal office environment is a vital part of this course, and usually takes place in March for one week.

Entry Requirements
- Five Standard Grades at Credit/General level or suitable Intermediate 2s, one of the subjects should be English.
- An IT qualification/experience advantageous.
- Candidates will also be interviewed to assess suitability for the course.
- The course is also ideally suited to candidates returning to education with no formal qualifications, but who have relevant life and/or work experience.
