Course Description

This two year course equips you with the skills to work in a variety of organisations such as a travel agency, tourist information centre or airport. You will gain insight into the skills needed to work as an overseas resort representative or as a tour operator. 

Students will undertake a work experience unit, working in the travel industry for a week. Students are given the opportunity to undertake their work experience with Servisair.

Marketing, information technology, Spanish, tour and airport operations, retail travel operations and advanced air travel.

Travel and tourism is an exciting area with many job opportunities. Students will undertake a work experience unit, working in the travel industry for a week. Former students have sometimes found jobs via this route. Furthermore, the course finishes at Easter giving students a better chance of securing permanent employment. Successful completion of the course gives students a good broad base from which to choose a future career or university course.

Entry Requirements

  • Two Highers preferably including English or relevant NQ units.
  • Relevant life/work experience.
  • An interview is part of the selection process.

Progression Routes

  • 3rd year entry to various degree courses at University of the West of Scotland, Glasgow Caledonian University and a number of other UK universities.
  • Employment in airport ground handling, cabin crew, retail travel and tour operations.
  • An interview with Servisair for students who successfully complete the aviation unit.
