Course Description
ADDITIONAL PLACES NOW AVAILABLE
Design-led course that embraces many aspects of surface based decoration, fabric construction and garment design related to both fashion and interior design. All course work is project based and students experiment with a variety of materials and techniques including machine embroidery, fabric dying and print. Students have the opportunity to exhibit work at the annual college fashion show and participate in the Trades House of Glasgow Craftex Award. Live industry projects are integrated within the course.
Students have progressed to university and design/manufacturing employment in the fashion industry.
Progression from HNC to HND is not guaranteed and is dependent on suitable progression through course work as well as satisfactory attendance, timekeeping and commitment.

Entry Requirements
- 2 Highers including Art & Design
OR - NQ Contemporary Design
Applications are also welcome from those without formal qualifications, but with relevant life/work experience.
Candidates will be expected to present a folio of artwork at an interview.
An Interview to determine academic and/or industrial experience is part of the selectioin process.
Progression Routes
Progression onto a variety of textiles and fashion courses throughout the UK at advance entry including:
- 2nd/3rd year entry to BA Design Textiles at Glasgow School of Art
- 2nd/3rd year entry to BA Textiles at Heriot-Watt University
- 2nd year entry to BA Performance Costume at Edinburgh College of Art
- Employment in the fashion industry
- Modern Apprenticeship within the textile sector.
