Upskilling NHS healthcare support workers

09 December 2011

NHSwebHealthcare support workers from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde have been awarded certificates of achievement for successfully completing the Skills Mix Project.

This project is designed to enhance and upskill healthcare support workers to Higher National (HN) level to meet the needs of level 3, senior Health Care Support Worker and level 4, Assistant Practitioner roles.

Veronica McIlroy, Head of School for Healthcare at Cardonald College Glasgow, commented: "It was remarkable to see the students embrace this challenge, especially since many of them have been out of education for over 20 years. They all worked tremendously hard to complete the programme and the healthcare lecturers at Cardonald would like to congratulate them on their well earned success. It's also very encouraging that the majority of them are keen to continue their studies at Cardonald".

Veronica added: "I am proud of the strong relationship the College has with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and we look forward to continuing with this good partnership."
