Cardonald hairdressing students create cutting-edge ‘Total Looks'

27 April 2012

puppet half lengthCardonald College Glasgow hosted ‘Total Look'; a competition for Level 6 Hairdressing students on Tuesday 17 April, to style a model's complete look including hair, make-up and clothing. 14 students took part in the competition, which was sponsored by Sally Salon Services.

The competition was won by Helen Allan for her marionette doll inspired creation and the runners up were Libby Jamieson, Amanda Anderson and Michelle O'Hara.

Hairdressing lecturer, Jo Malone commented: "The students were asked to design a Total Look 2nd placestyle board that would inspire their look and on the day, they were given two hours to create their model's look. The objective of the competition was to showcase the students' creativity and styling techniques. Each of the students involved demonstrated this really well, but Helen's creation stood out as it was highly individual and the hair styling was extremely intricate."

The judges also assessed how well the final look had been reflected in the style board, which the students had prepared in advance of the competition.
