Modern Apprenticeship Week

15 May 2012

Cardonald is supporting Skills Development Scotland's Modern Apprenticeship Week, which runs from Monday 21 to Friday 25 May. At the College's campus in Glasgow, apprentices are trained in a variety of construction-related trades.

Cardonald is also the leading partner in a new Skillset apprenticeship programme that has been developed to help the Scottish textile industry train its future workforce.

The programme is the first established scheme to recruit and train new textiles workers for an industry that is facing a crippling skills gap. The apprenticeship scheme recruits and trains new talent to the industry and has been set up by, with the help of Skillset, Robin Deas from the House of Cheviot and Mike Wilson from the Scottish Borders Exporters Association alongside other knitwear manufacturers in the region.
