Now we're going for Gold!

Cardonald College Glasgow has been awarded a Silver Healthy Working Lives Award in recognition of its health campaigns over the past year. 

Once a month the ‘Healthy College' group - comprising members of staff from various areas of the College, meet to discuss its portfolio of campaigns and initiatives to get staff (and students where possible) involved in a range of activities to takes steps; both big and small to achieve healthier lives in and out of work.

Some of the recent 'Healthy College' campaigns include a staff 5k fun run, ‘Cycle2work' scheme, hill-walking club, free staff health checks and massages, alcohol and smoking help groups and fair trade schemes. There are many more interesting health orientated campaigns to look out for and get involved in!

Fair Trade

The Healthy Working Lives Awards programme was established in 2005 and plays a key role in helping the Scottish Government reduce work-related illness by supporting employers and employees to develop health promotion and safety themes in the workplace in a practical, logical way, that's beneficial to all.

Lorraine McGaw, Director of Organisational Development at the College and one of the members of ‘Healthy College' commented "The ‘Healthy College' working group is passionate about getting results from our campaigns and we all take great pleasure in developing and running campaigns which result in a healthier, more motivated and productive workforce.

She continued "The Colleges' Healthy College group has already started planning for many more exciting health-related campaigns throughout 2012 and into 2013 and next year - we are going for Gold!"
