Tuition Fees
Do I have to pay a tuition fee for my course?
The majority of students at Cardonald College Glasgow do not have to personally pay tuition fees associated with their course. This is because there are some established ways that such fees can be offset and paid on your behalf. The most common ways to offset tuition fees are as follows:
Full time Advanced study: Apply to SAAS or appropriate awards body. Award is subject to some residence criteria.
Part time Advanced study: Possible fee waiver or use of an ILA award. Fee waiver subject to residence and income/receipt of benefit criteria.
Full time Non-advanced study: Fee waiver is routinely applied subject to residence requirement.
Part-time Non-advanced study: Possible fee waiver or use of an ILA award. Fee waiver subject to residence and income/receipt of benefit criteria.
In addition, you may be in a position where an employer, sponsor, or other third party is in a position to pay any tuition fees relating to your study. In these cases, the College will arrange an invoice as required.
Please note that it is ultimately your responsibility to provide the College, or any separate awarding body with the appropriate information in a timely manner to ensure that you obtain any award, or other form of offsetting tuition fees.
Personal liability for fees
In the event that you do not satisfy the eligibility criteria identified above, or no other third party is paying fees on your behalf, you may be liable to pay the tuition fee for your course.
Non-EU students will normally be liable for fees at the rate specified - please refer to our International website for more information.
What happens if I am personally liable for paying a tuition fee?
The amount of the fee and the due date will be clearly indicated to you when you enrol. An indication of fee rates is included in our prospectus.
A small number of short term courses require full payment at enrolment. This due date is the final date by which the fee should be paid, so you may wish to pay part of the fee at various times up to that point.
How do I pay any fees due?
In person at the College: At the Registration window on the 1st floor of the College. You can pay by cash, cheques, debit or credit cards.
By phone: Please phone 0141 272 3367/3114. You can pay using credit or debit cards.
I have exceptional circumstances which mean I may not be able to pay the tuition fees by the due date. What should I do? Please contact the College by email to tuitionfees@cardonald.ac.uk. Or phone our Finance department. In some cases, we may be able to agree an exceptional arrangement with you.
Withdrawal from studies and revised fees
During the academic year, if you withdraw from your studies at Cardonald College Glasgow before completion of the course, and you are liable for payment of tuition fees, the full tuition fee for the course in that academic year will be revised to take account of your total attendance to date on that course. Details of the overall policy are provided in the table below:
The percentage of the course which has been attended will be determined by the last day of attendance on the student record held by the college, against the total number of days of the course.
The college will reassess the fee chargeable to you following a withdrawal in-line with the table above, and may invoice you accordingly. Clearly any amount due also depends on the level of any fee payments made by you up to the point of withdrawal (see also section below on Refunds).
Refund Policy
Students withdrawing from courses who feel they are entitled to a refund (please refer to table above as a guide) should do so, in writing, to the Director of Finance. We will make every effort to ensure that legitimate requests for refunds are paid to you as soon as possible, following receipt of your written request.
Courses cancelled by the college
There may be occasions where the college has received fees and payments from students in advance, for a course that is subsequently cancelled by the college. In such circumstances, we will generally refund any monies already paid by you to the college.
Appeals
If you are not happy with a refund policy decision, please submit this in writing to the Director of Finance. We will make every endeavour to respond to you as soon as possible after an appeal is heard.
