The Information & Advice Centre

The Information and Advice Centre is a purpose built facility offering information, advice and guidance on all aspects of studying at college.

We're open 8.30 am to 5.00pm Monday to Fridays throughout the year, except for Wednesday's when we open at 9.30am, public holidays, staff development days and between Christmas and New Year. During certain periods we'll stay open longer in the evenings.

You can call in to speak to a Student Adviser at any time or contact us on 0141 272 3332 or enquiries@cardonald.ac.uk. If your enquiry requires a more in-depth response we'll arrange an appointment for a fuller discussion.

Our clients
The Information & Advice Centre is a purpose-built facility for everyone who'd like to find out more about courses and careers. You don't have to be a student to use our services, and the courses don't have to be at Cardonald College Glasgow. You don't have to make an appointment beforehand. There are no age limits, and it doesn't matter whether you're interested in improving your literacy, taking a leisure class or a two year Higher National Diploma.

Our Student Advisers
Each of our advisers can give you further information on Cardonald's courses. In addition, they have expertise in careers or student finance. Advisers are friendly and helpful, and will take the time necessary to come up with the answers you need. Please ask!

Databases and Library
We have extensive computer information systems describing course opportunities throughout the UK, computer-based careers guidance and an up-to-date library with course, careers and welfare information. You're welcome to browse, or ask our staff for assistance.

Financial Advice
You'll need to know the costs of coming to College, and the financial support you can expect to receive. We have information on grants, bursaries, EMAs, loans, benefits and other funds, and can discuss your own situation in complete confidence.

See also section on Student Finance.

Continuing Support
It's natural to turn to the Information & Advice Centre when you're starting a course: the environment is unfamiliar, and you may need assistance at that point. But the Information & Advice Centre can be equally helpful when your course is coming to an end, providing careers advice or suggestions for more advanced courses to pursue. There is also expert advice on any welfare, financial or personal problems that might arise during your course.

Making the right choice
We're delighted when you take up a Cardonald course. But we recognise that you must be given the course or career information that's appropriate to you. We're here to meet your needs, not to fill places. We won't ever pressure you to take up one of our courses (or any course), and we'll happily recommend a programme at another college if we think it suits you better.

Outreach Services
We're committed to providing advice services in the community wherever appropriate, at a time and place to suit your community group, church, centre or school. Call the Information & Advice Centre if you would like someone to come along to talk about learning opportunities.
